Alibaba’s WAN3.0 Generates AI Videos Up to 30 Seconds From Text, Images, and Documents
Alibaba has released WAN3.0, a new AI video generation model that produces clips up to 30 seconds long from text prompts, images, and document inputs.
The model, developed by Alibaba’s Tongyi Lab, expands on the earlier WAN2.1 system. It aims to make video creation more accessible for content creators, marketers, and developers.
Users can generate videos from text descriptions, static images, or uploaded documents like PDFs and slides. The output reaches up to 30 seconds in length with consistent motion and style.

The company has not disclosed the exact training data size or specific dataset composition.
Availability and Pricing
WAN3.0 is available through Alibaba’s cloud platform and an API for developers. The company also offers a web-based demo for testing.
Pricing follows a per-second model. Generating a 30-second video costs approximately $0.15 in compute credits. Discounts apply for bulk usage and enterprise contracts.
Alibaba plans to release an open-source version of the model later this year, though no specific date has been set.
Limitations and Risks
The model is not without drawbacks. Generated videos may still exhibit temporal inconsistencies, such as objects flickering or disappearing between frames.
Alibaba warns that WAN3.0 may produce biased or inappropriate content if prompted with toxic or misleading inputs. The company has implemented safety filters, but they are not foolproof.
“Users are responsible for the content they generate,” Alibaba’s terms of service state. “Do not use the model for disinformation, harassment, or any illegal activity.”
The model currently supports only English and Chinese text inputs. Other languages may produce degraded results.
