ChatGPT Voice Now Connects to Email, Calendar, and Slack
OpenAI’s voice mode for ChatGPT is evolving beyond simple conversation. It now integrates with email, calendar, and Slack — inching closer to the seamless AI assistant depicted in the film “Her.”
The update allows users to dictate messages, schedule events, and query work communications using natural voice commands. This marks a significant leap from the earlier, text-only interface.
What the New Voice Integration Does
Email management. Users can ask ChatGPT to compose, read, or summarize emails. The AI can pull from connected accounts and suggest replies.
Calendar scheduling. Voice commands can create events, check availability, and reschedule meetings. The assistant understands time zones and date ranges.
Slack access. ChatGPT can browse Slack channels and direct messages. It can summarize threads or help craft responses — all hands-free.
The feature is rolling out gradually to Plus and Enterprise subscribers. OpenAI has not yet announced a public release date for free-tier users.

How to Enable the New Features
The integration is available through the ChatGPT mobile app (iOS and Android) and the desktop client.

Step 2: Authorize access to your email provider (Gmail, Outlook), calendar (Google Calendar, Exchange), and Slack workspace.

OpenAI has hinted at deeper integrations: file storage (Google Drive, Dropbox), CRM tools, and real-time transcription. Voice quality is also improving, with more natural tone and pacing.
Competitors like Google and Microsoft are racing to add similar voice-to-action features. The difference is ChatGPT’s ability to chain multiple commands — for example, reading an email, drafting a reply, and scheduling a follow-up meeting in one voice session.
The “Her” comparison is not lost on OpenAI’s team. In internal meetings, the company has reportedly set “full voice autonomy” as a long-term goal.
For now, users get a capable, if imperfect, voice assistant that sits inside their communication stack. Early adopters report mixed results: fast for simple tasks, slower for complex multi-step workflows.
