🚀 Gnoppix 26 Has Landed: Introducing the Secure Gnoppix Mail Ecosystem!

We are thrilled to announce the immediate release of Gnoppix 26! This major update isn’t just a routine iteration; it marks a significant evolution in our commitment to user privacy and sovereign digital security.

:e_mail: Gnoppix Mail: True End-to-End Encryption for Everyone

In recent months, the overwhelming demand for secure email solutions has been undeniable. Driven by the continuous scandals involving major tech giants like Microsoft, Yahoo, and Google who use your private data for unacceptable purposes like AI training we have taken a decisive stand. We believe this is utterly unacceptable.

Thanks to a generous initial sponsorship from SAP (our sincere thanks to them!), we are excited to launch Gnoppix Mail, our own built-in, maximum-security email system.

Key Security Feature: Automatic E2E Encryption

Gnoppix Mail is built on a foundation of maximum security and End-to-End Encryption (E2EE). Here’s the revolutionary part:

  • Your emails are all encrypted with your own GPG key, ensuring that your data remains absolutely private.
  • Even if the sender does not encrypt the email, Gnoppix ensures the message is protected on our system, so no one except you can read your mail.

Your privacy is paramount. For more information on Gnoppix Mail and our commitment to E2E, please visit: https://gnoppix.me

:hammer_and_wrench: Updated Tools and System Enhancements

We’ve been busy under the hood, implementing several new tools and features to make Gnoppix 26 our most capable release yet:

  • GPG Key UI: We have implemented a new, user-friendly GUI for creating GPG keys. This makes it easy for every user to generate the required keys for the Gnoppix Mail encryption system.
  • Local AI Communication with RAG: A new GUI has been integrated for your local Ollama communication. We’ve enhanced this tool to enable Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), allowing your local AI to leverage your private, local data for more powerful and contextual responses.
  • gnoppixctl 0.5.7 IPv6 Compatibility: Our core control utility, gnoppixctl, is now fully IPv6 compatible. We need your help to verify this! Please let us know if it works for you we didn’t have an internet connection available during final testing.

:stop_sign: Important Notice for EU Members

The bad news we regret having to share: due to evolving EU regulations, specifically relating to proposals like Chat Control, it is no longer possible for us to provide support to users within the European Union without fundamentally compromising the privacy and security principles Gnoppix was founded upon.

Therefore, we are sadly no longer able to provide support within the EU, and we need to block users connecting from the region.

Please see our detailed statement on this matter: Gnoppix Community | Gnoppix Linux

Thank you for being part of the Gnoppix community. We look forward to building a future of true privacy with you.

Best
