LinkedIn is introducing stricter rules against AI-powered profile photos, fake job postings, and automated connection requests. The professional network reports a sharp rise in low-effort AI content aimed at gaming the algorithm.

New detection tools scan for language patterns typical of large language models. LinkedIn also enforces captcha-like challenges on accounts that show suspicious posting velocity.

Specific moves include:

  • Profile verification gaps: AI-generated profile images without a real photo upload are flagged.
  • Mass message bans: Automated “follow-up” messages written by AI are now blocked if sent to more than 50 contacts per day.
  • Content authenticity tags: Posts identified as AI-generated are given a visible label, reducing their organic reach.
