We Need Your Help! Critical Testing Areas:

As we prepare for the final release, your testing efforts are invaluable. We are particularly keen on feedback regarding three critical areas:

  1. Hardware Detection: Please test Gnoppix 25.7.29-rc11 on as many different hardware configurations as possible. We want to ensure seamless compatibility across a wide range of devices.
  2. GUI Installer: The graphical installer (Calamares) is a cornerstone of the Gnoppix experience. We urge you to perform installations and report any issues or inconsistencies you encounter. Your feedback here is crucial for a smooth user onboarding experience.
  3. Gaming and AI Performance: We’ve invested significant effort into optimizing both gaming performance and AI integration within Gnoppix 25. This area deeply needs your rigorous testing! Push it to its limits with your favorite games and AI applications.

Prove Us Wrong, Get a Reward!

We’re confident in our optimizations. So confident, in fact, that we’re offering a challenge: If you can prove that gaming under Gnoppix is slower compared to Windows on comparable hardware, you’ll receive a one-year Gnoppix membership! (Please refer to our terms of service for full challenge details and submission guidelines).

Remember:
You’re testing a beta.** Our primary focus in this release was optimizing gaming speed and the API integration of AI. In our internal tests, Gnoppix with these optimizations proved fast on 9 out of 10 games, even when not running the absolute latest software. We’ve compared it with our Arch build; while Arch was 0.42% faster, we haven’t extensively tested other gaming distros. Differences in a few rounds were often less than 0.66% (we were told a.e. Ubuntu counts as a “gaming distro,” which we found… challenging, apologies for the bluntness!). So, for most users, these minor variations won’t significantly impact the experience. We’re not looking to compete on fractional percentages; our goal is for you to use what you think is best for you! And just ask yourself why you’re here if you’re the RPM boy. Furthermore, our Arch build broke completely twice within the last six months, requiring significant manual intervention. So, if you prefer a stable system and don’t have time for extensive hands-on troubleshooting, Gnoppix is absolutely the right choice for you. You’ll find out yourself. Marc was the tester he compared World of Warcraft ~191 FPS on Linux ~183 FPS on Windows 11. I’ve tested it too, my limitation was my Monitor always got 144 on both. Thanks Marc.

Every bug report, every piece of feedback helps us polish Gnoppix 25 into the best possible release. Your contribution directly impacts the quality of the final product.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to the Gnoppix project! Let’s make this final push together.
